WebTonies really need to make the set-up process easier. We spent HOURS on Christmas morning trying to get this thing to work and I was so disappointed that I almost just returned it. Tried to call Tonies and they don't answer the phone, you have to email. The problem was their app and everything worked better using the website. WebI had to make sure that the device I was using to set them up was connected to my home wifi on the 2.4 GHz band only. Another work-around for the tech-savvy might be to go into your wifi router settings and temporarily disable the 5 GHz band until after the Tonie is set-up and working.
