The Universal laserdisc release was in it's proper full-screen aspect ratio, but the DVD was released at widescreen. Super35 has a negative aspect ratio of 1.33:1. During filming, the DP usually frames the film in a 2.35:1 ratio (few films shot in Super35 are not 2.35:1).

If the widescreen has only the top and bottom cropped it can contain more of the original than a fullscreen that has top, bottom and the sides cropped. But as zombie84 said most fullscreen versions are cropped widescreen versions.
